I'm starting to learn Adobe Illustrator something i've been avoiding for a while now and i've been doing more and more sketches of the human figures just alot of learning going on. Also i'm doing other work it's exhausting.
You
think man can destroy the planet? What intoxicating vanity. Let me tell
you about our planet. Earth is four-and-a-half-billion-years-old.
There's been life on it for nearly that long, 3.8 billion years.
Bacteria first; later the first multicellular life, then the first
complex creatures in the sea, on the land. Then finally the great
sweeping ages of animals, the amphibians, the dinosaurs, at last the
mammals, each one enduring millions on millions of years, great
dynasties of creatures rising, flourishing, dying away -- all this
against a background of continuous and violent upheaval. Mountain
ranges thrust up, eroded away, cometary impacts, volcano eruptions,
oceans rising and falling, whole continents moving, an endless,
constant, violent change, colliding, buckling to make mountains over
millions of years. Earth has survived everything in its time. It will
certainly survive us. If all the nuclear weapons in the world went off
at once and all the plants, all the animals died and the earth was
sizzling hot for a hundred thousand years, life would survive,
somewhere: under the soil, frozen in Arctic ice. Sooner or later, when
the planet was no longer inhospitable, life would spread again. The
evolutionary process would begin again. It might take a few billion
years for life to regain its present variety. Of course, it would be
very different from what it is now, but the earth would survive our
folly, only we would not. If the ozone layer gets thinner, ultraviolet
radiation sears the earth, so what? Ultraviolet radiation is good for
life. It's powerful energy. It promotes mutation, change. Many forms of
life will thrive with more UV radiation. Many others will die out. Do
you think this is the first time that's happened? Think about oxygen.
Necessary for life now, but oxygen is actually a metabolic poison, a
corrosive glass, like fluorine. When oxygen was first produced as a
waste product by certain plant cells some three billion years ago, it
created a crisis for all other life on earth. Those plants were
polluting the environment, exhaling a lethal gas. Earth eventually had
an atmosphere incompatible with life. Nevertheless, life on earth took
care of itself. In the thinking of the human being a hundred years is a
long time. A hundred years ago we didn't have cars, airplanes,
computers or vaccines. It was a whole different world, but to the
earth, a hundred years is nothing. A million years is nothing. This
planet lives and breathes on a much vaster scale. We can't imagine its
slow and powerful rhythms, and we haven't got the humility to try.
We've been residents here for the blink of an eye. If we're gone
tomorrow, the earth will not miss us.
I have been doing encaustic for a couple of years but with crayons. I just recently took up traditional encaustic and have been taking notes and learning all these little tricks along the way since any books on encautic are seriously lacking in information and since very few people practice this ancient technique. I have pages of notes of how to make paint, techniques, tricks and alot of DON'Ts maybe i'll write a book on this subject
Been working on some commissions getting those done. Right now school is kicking my butt trying to get everything done on top of homework. there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day right now. Anyway enough bitching i'll have new pieces posted soon on my myspace (myspace.com/tjltm) and they will be posted on here soon after that.
been working all day on well everything. i have two tattoo designs, mike's comic book drawing, shipping two pieces. school cleaning my studio after the verizon guys where here to install the FiOS which i'm finding to be F%^King awesome makes my life easier. No more dealing witht he dsl going down at random times and the model dying and having to be replaced. The only draw back on that is the router they give you is a POS and the wireless Only supports WEP encryption so it's completely useless. Ok enough of my techno-geek ways. I'm sorry to everyone that has been doing business with me lately being late with commissions but i'm finally getting caught up with everything and i should have new stuff up soon. And i will be adding my new pieces to my site SOON i know i keep saying that but i haven't had the time to sit doen and write all the code.
That's right it's been way to quiet because i have been busy with the holidays and whatnot it's the end of January already and i haven't finished anything that would be worth even posting but that will change soon. i have two commissions that i have to finish and i have to wait for it to warm up.. resin is a temperamental thing. that's all i have to say. plus i will be updating my site soon to add the pieces i finished in dec 07
i have at least three new to put up on my site. I should have it up pretty soon. i had an ok xmas other then a little drama and now i'm wondering about the state of a friendship. seriously why is it the holidays is when things hit the fan? like all i wanted for xmas was three things but didn't get that in fact i got the worst possible antithesis to what i wanted. it sounds selfish but ya since that happened i'm not exactly happy with xmas this year. i really hope that my friendship with jayce doesn't go to crap.
Well everything is brand new. Brand New URL. Brand new site, brand new pieces, brand new blog, brand new brand new. wow and all by me. i'm tired and now that it is pretty much done i'm going to get back to what i really love... painting.
